WizKids was founded in 2000 by Jordan Weisman, previously of FASA, to publish Mage Knight. Mage Knight was the first collectible miniatures game. The pieces incorporated a dial in the base that showed each piece's statistics. Those statistics changed as the piece took damage. Early employees joining Jordan in this endevor were his wife Dawne, who led the company's graphic design; his father Mort, who ran international sales; his brother-in-law Ray, who ran domestic sales; and Jenny (Trisko) Berg, previously of Bungie, who was in charge of marketing.
In 2001 the company went from being "virtual" to having its own office in Bellevue, WA. Employees had previously been spread through Washington, Illinois, and Missouri. Mage Knight was selling as fast as it could be made, and the company moved into the hobby's list of 10 largest publishers. The employee count went up to over 30, including Don Gorski, COO; Tom Virgin, CFO; and Martin A. Stever, Executive V.P.
In 2002, the company introduced its most popular game, HeroClix. The staff grew to over 50.
In 2003, the company was sold to Topps.
In 2007 Topps was sold to a private equity group led by Michael Eisner, former CEO of Disney.
In November 2008 Topps closed WizKids on short notice.
In September 2009 WizKids was purchased by NECA.

Will you turn towards sorcery and control an inaccessible island surrounded by impenetrable flames? The Halo ActionClix game brings the incredible content of the Halo universe to players’ tabletops via the award-winning Clix miniatures game engine. Players are able to replicate the exciting multiplayer action from all three Halo games using high-quality pre-painted, plastic miniatures of Halo characters and vehicles. Players field teams in battles of Halo’s USNC, Covenant or mixed teams, and are able to jump right into the action and enjoy Halo game mechanics, including weapon swaps, figure re-spawning and vehicle-based combat. Each game piece has a unique combat dial that lists their constantly evolving stats, and a character card that list specific abilities of that piece. Using different “move and shoot” capabilities, as well as blocking terrain (walls and debris), players move their pieces – vying for the best shot to take down their opponent’s pieces.

Marvel Strike Teams puts players in the role of some of their favorite Marvel Universe heroes and villains. Two to five players face off in a classic battle of good versus evil. Everyone gets a character with a HeroClix combat dial to track their level and build points. One player is the villainous mastermind and is able to guide the direction of each encounter; the rest are the heroes who each control a single hero for the mission and must work together by combining their vast array of powers and abilities to complete various objectives, such as infiltrating an enemy warehouse or saving hostages.
Each hero is unique with individual play styles, giving players multiple options to play the way that best suits them. The environment also lends to the game play, putting obstacles in the way of players and granting them objects they can use as weapons. A wooden crate may block Captain America's path, but he can pick it up and hurl it at enemy Hydra soldiers. Players will quickly pick the role that best suits their team and lead the heroes to victory — or at least they hope so!
Aside from standalone missions, Marvel Strike Teams includes a campaign-based game in which the players can improve their heroes over the course of several missions. With randomly generated scenarios, multiple map tiles, and thousands of possible encounters, each mission will feel like a fresh experience!

Players take on the roles of Quarriors - mighty mystical warriors who have the power to capture dangerous quarry from the untamed Wilds! They must conjure the mysterious powers of Quiddity, cast powerful spells, and summon their creatures to battle if they hope to overcome rivals and earn their rightful place as the Champion!
Quarriors has the frenetic excitement of a dice battle game, with an added ‘deckbuilding’ twist: players customize their dice pools during the game using resources generated by their rolls.
Quarriors takes the best of deckbuilding games without the tedium of shuffling. Take a typical deckbuilding game, add the speed and fun of dice and in 60 minutes you’re on your second or third game trying unique strategies against your opponents.
Alternate Description of Quarriors
In Quarriors, each player plays as a Quarrior competing for Glory in the eyes of Quiana, the Empress of Quaridia. Each player starts with an identical set of 12 dice in their dice bag. At the start of the game, Creature and Spell dice (Quarry) are dealt at random to form "the Wilds" in the center of the table. As play progresses, players roll their dice to attempt to summon Creatures, cast Spells, and harness the magical power of Quiddity (the in-game resource) to capture Quarry from the Wilds to add to their repertoire and into their dice bag. Players draw and roll 6 dice a turn from their bag, making that controlling bag composition is key to victory.
Quarriors is a fast-paced game where players must strategically balance their choices each turn. Do I use my Quiddity to summon Creatures in the hopes of scoring Glory or should I spend it all to capture more powerful Quarry from the Wilds? Players must outmaneuver their opponent's through strategic Spell use, the acquisition of powerful Quarry, and ultimately, by striking down opponent's Creature in combat. If your Creatures survive until your next turn, you will score Glory points and move closer to victory!

The year is 2063.
When magic returned to the world in 2011, elves, dwarfs, orcs, and trolls were able to assume their true forms. Shamans and mages renewed the development of their powers. The world, they said, had Awakened.
The decades that followed the Awakening were filled with turmoil, panic, and confusion. Cultures that had never lost touch with their mystical pasts began to use magic against the great nations that had suppressed them. The vast, global telecommunications network collapsed under an assault by a mysterious computer virus. Nuclear missiles were launched, but failed to detonate. Dragons prowled the skies. Epidemics and famine ravaged the world’s population. Clashes between newly Awakened races and humanity became common. Central authority crumbled, and the world began to spiral down into chaos. Out of the devastation emerged an unstable new social order. Megacorporations became new world superpowers, law unto themselves. Outside their gated communities, gangs ruled the streets, and the forgotten masses grew. These outcasts, dissidents, and rebels lived as the dregs of society, squatting in abandoned buildings and surviving by predatory instinct.
Technology began to change people. To enhance their flesh, many turned to cyberware?artificial enhancements to make themselves more than human. Some acquired implants that allowed them to interface directly with machines. Others sought to push the envelope of their physical capabilities, testing themselves on the streets against other “street samurais.”
In the world of 2063, the metroplexes are monsters casting long shadows. And it’s in the cracks between these giant corporate structures that shadowrunners find their homes. Shadowrunners are professionals in a culture in which self-sufficiency is vital. When the megacorps need a job done, but don’t want to dirty their hands, they initiate a shadowrun. To do this, they turn to the runners. Though shadowrunners “exist” in only the most classified of government and corporate databases, the demand for their services is high. Deckers are employed to slide like whispers through the visualized databases of giant corporations, spiriting away the only thing of real value?information. Street samurai are enforcers-for-hire whose combat skills and reflexes make them the ultimate urban predators. And magicians, who possess an ancient gift to wield and shape magical energies, are greatly desired, for obvious reasons. Shadowrunners sell their skills to survive, taking on the illegal and dangerous tasks that the corps are either incapable of doing or unwilling to do themselves.
In the shadows are the deepest and darkest, and it is here that a shadowrunner’s reputation is made or unmade. So strap on your gun, prepare your spells, and grab your gear, chummer: It’s time to shadowrun!

The Expanse is set in a future in which humanity has colonized much of the Solar System, but does not have interstellar travel. In the asteroid belt and beyond, tensions are rising between Earth's United Nations, Mars, and the outer planets.
The series initially takes place in the Solar System, using many real locations such as Ceres and Eros in the asteroid belt, several moons of Jupiter, with Ganymede and Europa the most developed, and small science bases as far out as Phoebe around Saturn and Titania around Uranus, as well as well-established domed settlements on Mars and the Moon.
As the series progresses, humanity gains access to thousands of new worlds by use of the ring, an artificially sustained Einstein-Rosen bridge or wormhole, created by a long dead alien race. The ring in our solar system is two AU from the orbit of Uranus, and passing through it leads to a hub of starless space approximately one million kilometers across, with more than 1,300 other rings, each with a star system on the other side. In the center of the hub, which is also referred to as the "slow zone", an alien space station controls the gates and can also set instantaneous speed limits on objects inside of the hub as a means of defense.

It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries The Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of Mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die.
Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants - and worse.
To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.
